June 5th was such a fun day for our family! Ryan's extended family has a tradition to run in the Springville 5k; also known as the "Nestle 5k". Since I have decided to take up running, Ryan thought it would be a great idea to join them this year. So we submitted our paperwork and prepared for the day! One of my dearest friends and favorite people in the entire world, Heather Elwell, decided she would join us. I was so excited! Living in West Jordan, all four of us got up at 5:00 a.m.that morning to head for Springville so that we could be there for the 7:30 sharp run. Ryan's brother and mom decided they would join us and met us there. It was so fun! The gun went off and we ran. I admit I wasn't thrilled about running that early or running in general that day. Ryan split off with Cayson and his brother and Heather and I did our own thing. It ended up being such a blast. I thoroughly enjoyed the time to chat with Heather and she seriously pushed me! The race flew by in no time, ginormous (yes, to me that is a word) hills and all! Our finishing time turned out to be 33:54. I was super proud of that time considering I hadn't been running for long. When we finished they had ice cream, water, power bars, etc for us to munch on. I'm pretty sure that was the best part! Then they gave out prizes. These aren't just any ordinary door prizes. They were giving out things like IPods, BBQ grills, mountain bikes etc. Unfortunately we didn't win anything but it was still fun to chill on the grass for an hour, chat, and watch the crowd as they won their prizes! This will definitely become a Rhodes family tradition for us!
Ryan and Randy tried the nasty protein packets they gave us. Their face tells all.
Our dear aunt Nelly and little Carma and Ryan and Cayson. Nelly actually took a medal in her age category! She is incredible!
Heather and Randy! Love these guys!
This event is huge. Thousands show up for it. Isn't the view incredible?

You're awesome! Do you know about our "running group" on Saturday mornings? I put it in quotes because it isn't really a group - it's just whoever can come - and we've been bad at doing it every week because everyone gets so busy. But anyway it's Saturday mornings at 8:00 and whoever is there goes! So.... you should come!!
