It Finally Happened

Please note… this picture has nothing to do with the next paragraph. I just wanted to throw it on here. Cayson loves playing on Grandpa's "tractor"

Well folks… The day has finally arrived! The day I had longed for but wondered if it would ever happen. That "it" that I am referring to is Cayson is walking. 100%. I'm not sure if it was my threatening him that if he turned 16 months and he still was crawling we would be having issues. Or perhaps it was the fact that I promised him that if he would learn to walk we would play outside all summer long. Either way a week later he was walking. Everybody says that when they start walking then they start getting into more things and can reach more things. This may or may not be true but all I have noticed is how nice it is to not carry the child everywhere we go. Although carrying a 21 lb child makes for some buff arms it really gets tiring after a while. So for me, I'm excited about this new phase!

In other news this flower PROVES to me that summer really is coming.

This has been the longest winter. I hate winter and everything about it. I hate being cold! I hate the snow! I just hate it all! Having a child that loves to be outside does not help add to the mix. Last week every day he would literally lie down on the floor and throw a tantrum because I would not let him outside. Then we had this past week! It has been beautiful. We have been able to be outdoors, play at the park,

have picnics,

blow bubbles,

and I would have to say it has been the best week of motherhood yet… well as far back as I can remember which is probably a week ago! Anyway, I am so happy for the changing season and can't wait to get outside and play!

I mentioned that Cayson loves being outdoors and that he has been throwing his tantrums. Well the other day I was gone somewhere and Ryan was home watching him. Apparently since mom wasn't willing to take Cayson outside due to the weather then he was going to take matters in his own hands. Ryan reports that he (Ryan) was in the other room when he went to check on Cayson. He peeked in the kitchen and found that Cayson had moved a chair over to the sliding glass door. Then he proceeded to get on the chair, somehow unlock the door and start opening it. When he couldn't get the door open any further on the chair he got off, opened it the rest of the way and went outside. I wish Ryan would have gotten it on film or at least a picture. Our little guy was 15 months and already escaping. We certainly have trouble on our hands!

As a side note, I was reading an amazing blog last night. This girl put her ideas and thoughts down on paper so eloquently. Do you ever wish that you could do that? Or perhaps you can and do. I can't. I find my writing to be rather unentertaining and dull to say the least. It doesn't stop me because as I have mentioned before I only do this so that we can have a family journal. But still, there is a part of me that wishes I could write something that would captivate any audience including myself. Alas, I submit myself to the truth that this has not nor ever will be a forte of mine. So for those that really do read this blog I send out my apologies, my apologies that I'm just straightforward and write about our dull dull life in a very dull dull manner. PS. If anybody has any tips as to how to be a bit more creative please send them my way! In any case I loved something she did. Every Tuesday she wrote down three things about their life and the past week. Some were big things and some were just silly. She titled this Tuesday writing something fabulous and once again eloquent (of course) but I have no recollection of what that was. I loved that idea. I think I will attempt to do that myself. I'm sure the three things some weeks will be pretty mundane but I like that I will be able to look back one day and read about our day to day life and perhaps some silly adventures that the Rhode's family had along the way. I won't call this anything special and it most likely will be Sunday that I do this… but that is a new goal of mine; to write a few things from the days of the Rhodes'.

Can I just add one more thing? It's about me and a little something my dear friend and I have been doing this past month. We started a BOOT CAMP CLASS! When you hear boot camp what do you think of? I will tell you what I think. I think of a very mean man that screams at you to work out and if you don't listen he tells you to "get down and give me twenty." Or perhaps he tells you to "run ten miles". In any case I needed to do something to up my workouts. I have a really hard time pushing myself when someone is not forcing me to do it. I also had gotten into a huge workout/body slump. So this was exactly the motivation and help I needed. The class has been exactly as hard as it sounds. I have not loved every minute of it but I also haven't hated it. I also feel like I have gotten some great results. The trainer has not yelled even once and yet he does push us at the same time. Sadly the month class is almost over, hopefully though I will keep that momentum up! I did just buy a jogging stroller so hopefully that will be the ticket to keeping me in shape!

Hooray for walking! And for summer! :D I like reading what you guys are up to, since we never see you it makes me feel less disconnected, so I vote keep it up. :)
